Solar Eclipse 2027
The Event of the Century

Before boarding the All Star Ghani, guests will experience what many astronomers are calling the Event of the Century — the Total Solar Eclipse of August 2, 2027.

What’s Included

  • West Bank Exploration: Guided visits to Medinet Habu and Deir el-Medina (non-duplicate sites).
  • Prime Eclipse Viewing: Positioned in Luxor for the maximum duration of totality.
  • Authentic Hurghada Breakfast: A local culinary immersion featuring Foul (slow-cooked fava beans) and Ta’ameya—the authentic Egyptian falafel made from crushed fava beans and fresh herbs. We’ll also offer garlic-grilled eggplant and the legendary Egyptian French fry sandwich for those seeking a familiar comfort classic.
  • Celebratory Lunch: Traditional Egyptian mezze and flame-grilled meats served post-eclipse.
  • Note: Alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are not included and may be purchased separately.

"Egypt in August is famously cloud-free — the odds of a cloud ruining the eclipse are about the same as spotting a penguin on the Thistlegorm."

Clear Skies Expected • Luxor, Egypt

Expedition Itinerary
North & Brothers Route

This route is widely considered one of the top liveaboard diving itineraries in Egypt for 2027. Combining world-famous WWII wrecks with the dramatic offshore pinnacles of the Brothers Islands, it offers a diverse range of underwater landscapes.

Planned Dive Sites

  • SS Thistlegorm: An iconic WWII wreck featuring cargo holds filled with trucks, motorcycles, and ammunition.
  • Ras Mohammed: Shark Reef & Yolanda Reef — famous for lush soft corals, swirling snapper schools, and the "Yolanda" cargo.
  • Brothers Islands: Steep walls and offshore currents attracting sharks, pelagics, and massive gorgonian fans.
  • The Wrecks of Abu Nuhas: Exploring the Giannis D, Carnatic, or Ulysses depending on weather and sea states.

Note: The exact order of sites and the final dive schedule are determined by the captain and dive guides to ensure safety and optimal diving conditions.

Travel Insurance Policy
Protecting Your Investment

Life happens—flight delays, medical concerns, and family emergencies can arise unexpectedly. To ensure peace of mind, trip insurance is strongly recommended for all guests.

Critical: The 24-Hour Window

To qualify for the most comprehensive coverage—including "Cancel For Any Reason" (CFAR)—travel insurance must be purchased within 24 hours of placing your deposit.

Why Insurance Matters

Because we charter the vessel in advance, all payments made on a payment plan are non-refundable once received. This is standard practice for boutique liveaboard expeditions worldwide.

  • Strict Cancellation: Trip insurance protects the financial value of your trip if you are forced to cancel.
  • Medical Coverage: Many policies include emergency evacuation and medical care abroad.

Diver Awareness: Trip insurance and Dive Accident insurance are separate. Dive Accident insurance (like DAN) is mandatory; Trip Insurance is highly recommended.

Insurance Requirements
Dive Accident & Trip Protection

To protect your investment and ensure your safety, dive accident insurance is mandatory and trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended. All trip payments are non-refundable; insurance is your best protection against the unexpected.

DAN Dive Accident Insurance

Mandatory for all divers. Provides specialized coverage for hyperbaric treatments and medical evacuation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Details & Logistics

Is the solar eclipse excursion included in the trip price?
The solar eclipse viewing experience is included in the base trip price. Due to the long-term nature of this expedition, final pricing may be subject to minor adjustments in 2027 should there be significant changes in mandatory Egyptian government taxes or permitting fees.
Where will we watch the eclipse, and how long will it last?
Our planned viewing location is The West Bank of Luxor, Egypt, chosen for its longer duration of totality and calmer atmosphere. Exact timing and final details will be provided as we get closer to the event.
How much should I budget for tips and gratuities?
Tipping is a significant part of Egyptian culture. We recommend:
  • Liveaboard Crew: 15% of the cruise price (Cash).
  • Land Portion (Luxor): $50 USD "Tips Kitty" collected at the start of the tour to handle drivers, porters, and local guides.
Note: Please bring crisp, new USD bills; local merchants often reject older or marked currency.
How much is the deposit, and is it refundable?
The deposit is $500 per person and is non-refundable. It is applied toward your total trip cost. Because all subsequent installments are also non-refundable, we strongly recommend trip insurance.
How does the payment plan work?
After your $500 deposit, the balance is divided into five equal payments billed on: July 2, 2026 | Oct 2, 2026 | Jan 9, 2027 | April 2, 2027 | Final Installment.
Can I get the 5% discount if I already paid by credit card?
No. The 5% Cash / ACH / Zelle discount applies only when all payments, including the initial deposit, are made through discounted methods arranged in advance.
Can two people book together in the same cabin?
Yes. Each diver places their own $500 deposit. We will then link your bookings and assign you to the same cabin. Please note your roommate preference in the order comments.
What happens if I book solo?
Solo travelers are welcome! We will pair you with another guest of the same gender in a standard cabin. Private cabins are available with a single-occupancy surcharge.
Is the Master Cabin (Cabin 7) worth the upgrade?
Cabin 7 is the largest cabin and offers the most privacy. Being at the bow, it may experience slightly more motion in rough seas, but it is the premier choice for couples.
What is the difference between dive and trip insurance?
Dive accident insurance (mandatory) covers medical emergencies under water. Trip insurance (recommended) covers your financial investment against cancellations and delays.
Do I need to be Advanced or Nitrox certified?
Open Water is the minimum. However, we strongly recommend Advanced and Nitrox for the deeper dives and currents at the Brothers Islands.
Are flights included?
No. International and domestic flights are not included. We are happy to provide guidance on recommended routes once you are booked.
