OTA Scuba and Swim Return & Cancellation Policy

At otadiving.com, we take the hassle out of returns to ensure you are 100% satisfied with your gear.

Standard Returns & Exchanges

  • 0–60 Days: New, unused items are eligible for a full refund or store credit.

  • 61–90 Days: Eligible for store credit only.

  • In-Water Trial: If you use a mask or fins and realize they aren't right for you, they may be exchanged for up to 100% store credit if returned in "like-new" condition (no scratches, scuffs, or signs of use).

  • First Exchange: Your first exchange is free of restocking or return shipping fees within the Continental US. Subsequent exchanges or those outside the Continental US may be subject to shipping fees.

Category Exceptions

  • Dive Computers & Smartwatches: Must be returned unopened and unused with all original seals intact for a full refund (minus restocking fees) within 30 days. Opened or used electronics will be evaluated for store credit based on condition, missing items, or inspection fees.

  • Neoprene (Wetsuits): Unworn suits may be exchanged for the same suit in a different size. If the size is unavailable, credit can be applied toward a suit of equal or greater value. Worn neoprene is handled case-by-case for up to 75% store credit.

  • Final Sale: Items from the Aqua Lung Rashguard Sale, Clearance, or Asylum Insider Deals are Final Sale and not eligible for return or exchange.

Fees & Restocking

  • Standard Restocking: Refunds may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 15% to cover original shipping and non-refundable payment processing fees (Visa/MC: 7–10%; Amex: 10–12%).

  • Special Orders: Items not regularly inventoried (including most Drysuits and accessories) are subject to fees based on manufacturer return costs.

  • Damaged Items: Defective items will be replaced at no charge. If the item is unavailable, a 100% refund is issued. If an item returned as "damaged" is found to be in working order, inspection and shipping fees will apply.

Travel & Classes

  • Travel: Please contact [email protected] before booking. Each trip has unique cancellation terms. All travel refunds are subject to a 15% processing fee. No refunds are granted until signed cancellation documents are received.

  • General Classes: Cancel in writing at least 2 weeks prior for a refund (minus the PADI manual cost). Within 2 weeks, classes are non-refundable, though store credit may be issued minus a rescheduling fee.

  • Open Water Rescheduling: Due to our strictly limited class sizes of four students, last-minute cancellations represent a total loss of revenue and instructor resources. Cancellations within one week of the scheduled class date, without a documented emergency, are subject to a $1,000 Liquidated Damages fee. This fee is a reasonable forecast of lost business opportunity and administrative costs.

How to Start a Return

Email [email protected] with your name and order number. We will provide a prepaid label for your convenience. Please allow up to 2 business days for a response, as we are often in the water! If urgent, call us at 855-682-3483.

Warranty Repairs & Shipping

While we stand behind the quality of the products we carry, warranty terms are strictly set by our manufacturers. In most cases, vendors require that the item be returned to OTA Scuba and Swim for inspection before it is forwarded to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. The customer is responsible for all shipping and handling costs associated with warranty claims, including shipping the item to our shop, the cost of transit to and from the manufacturer, and the final return shipping to the customer. We recommend insuring all warranty shipments, as OTA Scuba and Swim is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit. For electronic items such as dive computers or smartwatches, an additional $50 inspection fee may apply if the item is found to be in working order or the issue is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty.

Our Commitment to You: We understand that these manufacturer-mandated shipping loops can be frustrating. At our discretion, we may offer store credit for a portion of these shipping costs to be used toward your next gear purchase or service as a thank-you for your patience and continued support.
