SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Students build the ROV from a kit following a curriculum that teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme. The students form teams and gather at regional competitions where they put the robots and their skill at operating them to the test. Winners go on to National Competitions and are prime candidates for grants and scholarships.
Outside The Asylum Diving & Travel got to witness the result of all the dedication and hard work that went into preparing for the competition at the Alief Regional Competition. We were there to provide support divers that set up the underwater obstacle courses and keep the robots in line during the competition. We also had the best seats in the house to catch the underwater action in the below video. There was a lot of excitement as teams raced for the best times in the obstacle course and the finesse course. Check out the video for super cool highlights of the day.
